Cactus League Spring Training is regarded as one of the most important tourism events in Arizona. In 2011 more than 1.47 million fans went to watch their teams get ready for the baseball season.

There are Cactus games to enjoy in Goodyear, Glendale, Mesa, Peoria Phoenix, Surprise, Tempe and the newest Salt River Field at Talking Stick. There are now 15 teams that train in the Valley of the Sun. The 15 teams that are playing spring training games in the Phoenix area are: Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox and the Cincinnati Reds.

Spring training is a great time to get up close and personal with the players more so than in a bigger stadium. You can enjoy the warm Arizona sun while watching the game either sitting in stadium seats, or spreading out a blanket on the lawn. The Training games are for about 30 days, usually beginning in late February.
